Photographic Courses
In 2012 Southern Suburbs Photographic Society will offer two photographic courses.
Elementary Photographic Course
This course is aimed at folks who are relatively new to digital photography. Whilst some benefit will be gained by users with point and shoot cameras, it will be of greater benefit to people owning a more upmarket camera or even a basic DSLR perhaps with a second lens. Image manipulation would be done on the propriety software of the camera itself or Photoshop Elements or even upgraded CS4 and CS5. This group will be taught the vagaries of exposure, focusing, white balance, Lighting and more. At least one practical outdoor field trip will be included in this course. This course is aimed at a five week period with extra time at the weekend towards the end of the course for one or more outdoor workshops.
Master Class
This will be presented by Ian Rolfe, President of SSPS, a very accomplished Landscape Photographer and keen student of creative outdoor photography. This course is all about the passion of Photography… Understanding all aspects of Light, and about feelings and emotions that come with the pure joy of seeing the world through the camera's lens. It covers visualisation, composition, tones and textures. Interacting with the world around us, architecture, trees, our skies, seascapes, landscapes and urban scapes. It covers, poor lighting, night photography, depth of field, refraction, and much more. The use of filters is extensively covered, when and where to use them… and to cap it all off….. Time will be devoted to some photo-shop skills to enhance your creative photography in areas like HDR, contrast and sizing. A six week course.
Costs
Cost of each course is $125 and includes a 60 page manual as well as the 'Lightscape' hard cover book written and personally signed by Ian Rolfe.
A 10% discount is applied if both courses are undertaken. The course cost includes membership of SSPS until the end of our membership year, 31st December 2012.
Existing SSPS members get an additional 10% off each course.

Master Class
July - August (6 weeks).
All sessions commence at 8.00pm and conclude before 10.00pm.
They are held at the club's rooms, St.Matthews Anglican Church Hall in Cheltenham.
